[November 25, 2022] Korea Institute of Energy Technology Co., Ltd. received the Korea Institute of Power Mechanical Engineering Award for Excellence in Thesis.
Among the papers published in the past year, the paper titled "Experimental Study on the Vacuum Performance of Liquid Ring Pumps Depending on the Concentration of Potassium Formate Solution" in the Journal of Power System Engineering Vol. 26, No. 4 (August 2022) has been recognized as an excellent paper and awarded to Professor Ahn Seok-hwan (corresponding author).
This thesis was funded by the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2022 and was a collaborative effort involving the Korea Energy Technology Agency and Gyeongsang National University, with support from the R&D Special Zone Fostering Project.
By utilizing an aqueous solution of potassium formate as a sealing fluid, the paper demonstrates the ability to enhance the vacuum performance of liquid ring pumps and expand their application scope. The research has been evaluated to contribute to improved energy efficiency, particularly highlighting the outstanding outcomes achieved through industry-university cooperation in collaboration with the Korea Energy Technology Corporation. The creation of mutual synergy effects has significantly enhanced the value of this research.
